Although it is difficult to predict what the next killer applications will be, we can inter the types of service characteristics and capabilities that will be important in the NGN enviroment by exammining current service related industry trentls. It is certainly true that we are moving from Time division mytiplex /TDM/ based circuit switched networks to pakcet all and fjame based networks. However these changes in the transport networks are merely enablers for the dramatic changes we will see at the service level These services tended to involve nartow band voice calls with a single point to point connection per call.
NGN service is we khow characteristic is ;
- Ubiquitions real time, multimedia communications
- More personal intelligence distributed throughout the network
- More network intelligence distributed throughout the network
- More simplicity for nsers etc.
And we dont khow characteristics
- Specialized resourse services
- Processing and storage services
- Multimedia services
- Virtual private Networks
- Public network compuing etc.
Conclution;
Although it is difficult to predict what the next killer lists service characteristics and capabilities that will be important in the NGN evironment based on service related industry trends. It also describes a number of services we currently believe in the NGN environment
